According to the Center for Disease Control, more than 795,000 people in the U.S. have a stroke every year and strokes are the leading cause of serious, long-term disability for Americans. In honor of Stroke Awareness month and an effort to bring awareness to the illness, Seattle Seahawks’ Bobby Wagner hosted “Walk With Wagner” at the franchise’s VMAC Center. Stroke Awareness is a topic that hits home for Bobby whose mother suffered a stroke his freshman year of college and later passed away following complications. While the loss has not been easy, Wagner knows that one way for her legacy to live on is by being an advocate. “Walk With Wagner” welcomed 100 kids as they enjoyed a lite breakfast provided by Safeway. They also had the opportunity to hear from a young stroke survivor and the American Heart Association about heart health, the signs of a stroke and what to do when a parent or family member suffers a stroke. The event ended with everyone participating in a fun run with laps around VMAC’s outdoor field. Thank you to the @seahawks, @modpizza, @safeway, @drinkbodyarmor and Rivalry Events for helping to make this a great event!
